My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. (Psa 45:1)
Many voices constantly clamor for attention from every corner. So it’s crucial to discern the underlying motivations behind the messages we encounter.
“Those who do not fear the Lord do this – and very effectively: they boost one another. They encourage and assist their wicked partners thereby advancing their wicked agenda. They shape and control the narrative to their advantage using the airwaves, social media, news outlets, print, entertainment and so on. For instance, if they have a musician on their side, they write glowing articles about them. If they have an artist who puts out demonic art, they praise it, sponsor and support their art exhibits and publish the pictures to convey the impression that it’s something to be admired and honored.
As I observe these situations, I often find myself questioning how such gruesome and unwholesome art can garner praise. Yet, the answer lies in the prolific writings of these individuals—writers and journalists who tirelessly promote their agendas.
Look at it this way: How has the Bible achieved what it has for the glory of God? Because it was written. How have books had an impact on society, for good or for bad? Because they are written.
Reflecting on history, it is evident that those who leave the greatest legacies are those who publish. Unfortunately, Christians do not write or publish enough. This realization serves as a personal call to action for me and others who claim to stand for righteousness. This is a call to writers everywhere. To those who claim to speak for all that is righteous and holy. We must have scribes and those who have given themselves to publishing, on the trumpet of the written art, what God wants published. Scriptures say that the feet of those who do this will be blessed (Isa 52:7) and will be carried along like the ox and the donkey. We must carry along the feet of the ox and the donkey that publish good tidings (Isa 32:20). It is time for those who claim to stand for what is right to take to scripting, announcing, discussing and putting out support for all that is right and good. These are the things the workers of iniquity, the lawless ones have done that appear to give them the loudest and most powerful voice in the world.
Let’s heed this call and ensure that the voices of righteousness are heard amidst the clamor of the lawless.
