Habakkuk 2:1-3 I will stand on my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak and will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it, for it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Amos 3:6-8 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals it to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord has spoken! Who can but prophesy?
Hearing God is as essential to prayer as water is to plants. We have assurance that God answers all our prayers, to the degree they conform to His will. 1 John 5:14-15: Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
How do we know the will of God? This is how faith – the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen (Heb. 11:1) – comes – by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). We have faith when we know what God’s will is, and we know God’s will by hearing what He’s saying. God speaks in various ways and through various means.
However, the primary source of our understanding of God’s will is the written word of God – the Scriptures. Thus, the things revealed must be in line with the more sure word of prophecy. (Isaiah 8:20) To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (2 Peter 1:19-21) We also have the prophetic word made more sure, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing that no interpretation of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Our Prophetic Journey
In September 2016, God began to activate prophetic gifts in our church group, manifested in an outpouring of prophecies, dreams and visions. This was a fulfillment of Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. God’s outpouring of the former and latter rain (Joel 2:23) features an outpouring of prophetic grace in the last days.
Many members of our church group began to experience increasing levels of prophetic insight and accuracy as the rain intensified. Possibly 90% of our people had never had any prophetic experiences prior to the time. For those who had already experienced prophetic interactions a few times, there appeared to be an open heaven as seen from the astronomical increase in the number of encounters.
A couple of people who came from church groups that didn’t believe in prophecy and other manifestations of the gift of the Spirit were baptized in the Holy Ghost (with especially revelatory gifts of the Spirit instantly activated) – without anyone really praying for or laying hands laid on them!
God has promised that He will be found by us if we seek Him with all our hearts (Jeremiah 29:13). We were guided different seasons on a timetable that obviously only the Lord knew. We would look back or realize after a while, that different 'random' messages, or revelations, would all seem to tie in 'coincidentally', acting like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle that come together gradually. As people would pull out their prophetic journals, we would see matching revelations that even had identical dates from the previous years! There are only so many things that can be manipulated. We were sure the Spirit was Lord! So our liberty grew.
The Prophetic Intercessory Team expanded to include more people in November 2017. By this time, the accuracy of our prophetic perception was much greater.
The discernment of spirits, the ability to see angels and demons, was a gift many operated in. Between October and December 2017, we were praying from Psalm 139:21-24, (Search me o Lord, and know my heart, ... see if there is any wicked way in me...) four days a week. Many got firsthand training and experience on how to handle demonic manifestations and cast out unclean spirits, as it seemed that God’s answer to this prayer was to bring them to the surface. We prayed sanctification prayers for no less than a hundred and fifty people during those first three months and saw 'interesting' and slightly scary things.
Before then, it was common for the revelations to seem unclear and abstract. (Some of them still are – God speaks in mysteries and dark sayings. Psalm 78:2-4). But with time, it became common for the secrets of men’s hearts (and things otherwise hidden from our natural understanding) to be revealed.
In April 2018, God spoke to us from Isaiah 56:7 that ‘His house would be a house of prayer for all people’ and we began to have hour-long (sometimes longer) intercessory prayer meetings open to the entire house, every day of the week. We prayed for specific aspects of our nation and it's institutions of governance including the executive, legislature and judiciary. We were shown many a thing that was contrary to public perception and learnt the beauty of receiving accurate information ahead of time that proved to be right as various seasons rolled by. We prayed according to the Father's will and saw Him bring them to pass against all expectations. It created a sense of isolation but we got to understand how the prophets of old must have felt!
The church of God was meant to be led by the Spirit of Truth everyday. Within the last 3 years, I have often wondered how a local church can survive without the constant input of the Breath of God. In my first run at leading a church group between 2010 and 2013, though the bread of doctrine still abounded, the wine of the Spirit was hugely lacking. During the next phase from 2016 to 2019, the difference has made everything such an exciting adventure. We sang songs released to us by the Spirit time after time. Though rough due to the rudimentary sound equipment and my very hard driven and untrained voice box, they were anointed beyond anything we had known before. The music of heaven is, after all, heavenly.:-) We heard and saw the angels sing a lot of times, only repeating what we were hearing.
The revelations shared here are things we have received from the Lord that we believe should guide our prayers for the local churches, the church in Nigeria, the nation Nigeria, the body of Christ worldwide, and all nations. Note that prophetic revelations from the Lord often speak of the past, present and future – and we risk going into error if we presume to always know the timing of the events foretold by the Spirit of Truth.
Teachings on prophetic ministry and further revelations will constantly be shared on this website. Stay tuned in and feel free to share what you also receive!
