PART ONE

Agent C. was going through her phone when her neighbour, a 17-year-old Muslim, approached her, requesting advice on a decision he was about to make.

This was about 9 p.m., and Agent C. was surprised, wondering why he would approach her. Though aware that Agent C. was a Christian, he still approached her. Despite it being strange for her, she gave him a listening ear. He began to tell of how his parents wouldn’t let him have a phone, and how he had planned on smuggling one for himself in his way. He didn’t like the fact that they controlled his every move. He said he wasn’t allowed to have any friends, whether same gender or the opposite sex. He spoke in frustration and anger, having a determination to get a phone for himself by all means.

After he spoke for a while, Agent C. advised him not to buy a phone for now, because if he did, that would be disobedience to his parents. She was about to quote a Scripture when she remembered he is a Muslim, so she had to break it down like the Message Translation. She shared the Ten Commandments with him, and how one of them speaks about obeying your parents.

When he told Agent C. how he had fasted and prayed to God for intervention, but still nothing happened, she shared 1 Timothy 6:8—how we should be content with what we have, i.e., food and clothing. He said he has both, but wants a phone.

Agent C. told him to speak to God about it, but he said, “I’m not saying anything.” She went on to tell him to talk to Jesus, and he said, “Jesus is not the Son of God; why should I be speaking to a prophet?” She explained to him that Jesus is not a prophet, quoting John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one can get to the Father except through Me.” She explained that Jesus is the way to God, and any other way except Him is not the true way.

He argued, stating his beliefs according to his religion.

Agent C. explained Matthew 7:7 to him—how we can ask anything from Him, and how He gives us more than we can ask for. She also referenced Jeremiah 33:3, explaining that we can call on the Lord and He will answer.

The boy was really surprised that we could ask God for anything. Agent C. went on to explain the concept of being obedient and how Jesus wants us to obey everything He says. She used a simple example to illustrate her point.

PART TWO

Referring back to his phone, Agent C. asked him if he knew about the Holy Spirit, but he was quiet. So, she talked about the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. She also spoke to him about the end of the world. Their discussion was very interactive, with Agent C. asking him some questions and giving answers thereafter.

Soon, Agent C. started talking about the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment without being aware of it. These are two major classes in the Believers Bible School series (the foundational teachings of Christ—from Hebrews 6:1–2), which she had told herself that she wouldn’t teach to anyone until she could teach them well. But at this point, she knew it wasn’t her, but the Holy Spirit.

She told him that everyone will be given a reward based on how they lived in accordance with God’s word. Then she asked him, “What have you done for God all this while He has kept you? Don’t you think He might want you to do something for Him, too? We ask and ask, but we never ask Him what He wants.”
She went on to share a story from the book ‘I Dared to Call Him Father’ by Bilquis Sheikh, and how Jesus is intentional about him also. He offered to share about his religion too, since she had talked about hers. Agent C. explained that she has Jesus, so she has all she needs—pointing him to the fact that he is the one in need of something, and Jesus, through the direction of the Holy Spirit, can tell him whether to get it or not.

Then he said, “Tell me about this your Jesus.” She began to talk to him about how he can ask Jesus to come into his life. But she wasn’t able to continue because it was getting late into the night, and he had to go in before his parents became worried. They agreed to have the conversation another time. Agent C. concluded their discussion by encouraging him to try talking to Jesus, and he’d find out that He cares for him more than he thinks. He agreed to try it out, and they parted after she prayed for him.
