While we prayed for GAM-C&T, Matthew 19:14 came to mind in this way:
> “But Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'” (NABRE)
I understood that preventing children from coming to Jesus is not only about actively opposing their encounter with Him but also about failing to intentionally pursue them and introduce them to Him.
I saw a heart, which I realized belonged to a child, and two different hands reaching out to touch it.
It was like a race between these two hands to see which would reach the heart first. One hand was beautiful and glowing, while the other was wrinkled, decaying, and had claws for fingernails.
The rotten hand moved swiftly, while the glowing hand was much slower. The rotten hand reached the heart first, using its claw to make a deep, lengthy mark.
It withdrew its claw when the glowing hand finally arrived and attempted to touch the heart.
The wound remained, festering and beginning to ‘boil’—a mass of maggots burrowing deeper into the heart tissue. This continued even as the glowing hand finally made contact.
With the persistent touch of the glowing hand, the heart was eventually restored to normal.
I understood that what happened to the heart represented a journey from childhood to adulthood.
I also realized that:
1. If the glowing hand had never reached the heart, the claw would have remained embedded, causing further wounds.
2. If the glowing hand had arrived first, it would have created a force field preventing the rotten hand from ever touching the heart.
3. The rotten hand represented the kingdom of darkness and its deliberate effort to injure and corrupt children.
4. The glowing hand represented Christ, and its slowness was due to our own sluggishness and lack of intensity in pursuing children and teenagers.
5. When the heart became a rotting mass of maggots with a foul stench, the child had transformed into the kind of bad company we would typically avoid, whereas, this is the best time to be even more intentional in reaching out to them.
6. A person corrupted by darkness may not be healed instantly, but complete restoration will come if we persevere in keeping Jesus’ hand on them.
7. Children of light or darkness are not born that way; they are shaped by agents of either light or darkness.
